2025 SAL DETAILS

In 2025, once again, I will be running a FREE Year Long Stitch-A-Long (SAL)......my 6th one !

When I released the first Peppermint Purple Stitch-A-Long it was the only Year Long Blackwork SAL available; Now that there are lots to choose from, I very, very much appreciate that you are still here, and am very grateful for your support!

THIS YEAR THERE ARE OPTIONS...

There are 3 options to choose from this year, however ALL use the SAME weekly sections, so you can do one, or all three, with the same fillers released each week.

The options:

  1. The standard, usual 52 section SAL
  2. Create your Own Version
  3. A 12 week Only Version

If you are new to Peppermint Purple SALs or easily overwhelmed, then please just go with number 1, the Standard 52 section SAL as this is the same easy to follow format as normal (it also comes with Free border options)

1. THE STANDARD 52 SECTION SAL

LAYOUTS

There are, 2 free layouts 52section layouts, and 2 free border options. Each layout has 4 colour options

The SAL, minus any borders is: 129 x 129 stitches

JOIN THE SAL

FREE BORDERS

There are two free borders this year and both free borders fit both free layouts

Stitch Count:

Border 1 - 141 x 141

Border 2 - 133 x 133

2. CREATE YOUR OWN VERSION

This year I thought it would be fun to allow you to mix and match.

So I have create a 2025 Layout which allows you to drop any Centre Stage design (or your own creation) in the Middle.

STEPS:

  1. Choose a Border (these also contain the layout)
  2. Choose a Centre Design

3. THE 12 WEEK VERSION

A YEAR TOO LONG?

This year, if you prefer a smaller SAL/time commitment then the first 12 weeks can be done in isolation. This unfortunately does not come with any free borders, but you are welcome to create your own, or it can be paired with any of the Centre Stage Borders.

  1. Download the Mini SAL Layout PDF from the Members Area
  2. Then you can either create your own border, or choose from one of the Centre Stage Borders currently available.

NOT KEEN ON THE STANDARD SAL FREE LAYOUTS?

If you are not keen on the two free layouts, or are after something a 'bit more special' then there are other optional layouts available that also follow the Standard SAL. I often get asked for 'Matching Borders' to previous years so that people can create sets - so some of these will look familiar, but are sized for this years SAL.

What are Peppermint Purple Sals

Peppermint Purple SALS (shorthand for Stitch-A-Longs) are FREE (yes FREE!) year long sewing projects, with participants all over the world.

There are currently over 42,000 participants (both on facebook and here on the website).

Why am I being asked to pay - I thought it was free?

There are 2 free Layouts and 2 Free Borders for the full 52 section SAL. This is all you will need to participate and end up with a gorgeous design. These are all available to download from the 2025 Members Area.

There are however some optional extras that you can choose to purchase if you wish eg Fancy borders.

If you are being asked to pay anything and just wanted the Free Version then please empty your shopping cart, and download the free files from the Members Area.

How do they work

At the beginning of the project I release the Layout Files which will tell you the dimensions and colours and which explain what section goes where.

I will then release a section every week (on wednesdays at 8:30GMT) - both here on the website and in the facebook group starting on the 1st Jan 2025.

What supplies will I need?

You will need to provide

  • Material
  • Needle
  • Threads

The material dimensions and thread colours will be provided on the layout file. (you can choose your own colours though if you prefer)

How do I join?

You can participate by joining the Members Area here on the website or the Facebook group.
